Any historian or numismatist out there want to give me a helping hand?
An elderly neighbour has asked for my help in identifying this medal, which belonged to her father. It most likely dates from the 1920s or 1930s, probably from a Bodenstown ceremony, but any information that can narrow down the date or occasion would be appreciated.
The medal carries the words ‘Fianna Fail’ across the top, ‘Break The Connection’ across the bottom, and ‘Wolfe Tone Commemoration’ just under a profile portrait of Wolfe Tone. A pin on the back of the medal is used to fix it to a lapel.
(Apologies for the poor picture quality, iPhones have their limits)
Bodenstown medal, or veteran ira div dublin?
Gregory
That would fit. Can you tell me more about when the medals were issued, who issued them etc?
