To the canvassers who asked me to remember you when voting: I will remember you as I vote tomorrow. This may not be good news for all of you.

It is a mistake to treat an election manifesto like it means something. It’s a package holiday brochure. It shows you the luxury sea view apartment, but you end up in a north facing room two miles from the beach.
