More than thirteen thousand people joined a Facebook group urging Slovenia’s ‘perennial foreign minister’ Dimitrij Rupel to retire from political life.

The Slovenians are annoyed that Rupel remains a member of the government, despite his party losing a recent election.

Rupel, a flexible politician, had been a member of four parties during his career, and was recently appointed a special policy advisor by the new government.

The new group, ‘Together Against Dimitrij Rupel‘, was set up the day after his appointment was announced.

I wonder what the Slovenians would make of Mary Harney, who had been almost a perpetual member of the Irish government for two decades, and continues to serve in the cabinet despite no longer having a party to belong to.

I mention this because RTÉ News has yet to mention the existence of another Facebook group, ‘Harney Must Reinstate Cancer Vaccine‘, which has gathered over ten thousand members since the infamous cut was announced.

At least, a google search for ‘cervical cancer vaccine facebook site:rte.ie‘ produced zero hits.

If you want to do more to help, the group is organising vigils in protest against the cancellation of the vaccine programme in Dublin and Cork on Wednesday.
