Change of Tack

This is the second 200 Words of 2009. Since I began this blog in early June of last year, I’ve written a total of 135 articles.

At two hundred words each, that’s a total of 27000 words. At least, that’s the word count according to OpenOffice.org’s Writer software, but the wordpress blogging software I use often disagrees. The main difference of opinion seems to be over whether a hyphen results in two words, or only one.

Either way, it’s a new year, and time to re-assess what I want to achieve with this blog.

It’s strange how routines impose themselves. There have been days when I stared at the blank screen wondering what to write. And there have been days when I could have written three or four articles, and limited myself to one, saving the others for future days.

So I’ve decided it’s time for a change. Two Hundred Words will no longer be a clockwork production, churning out one article a day. Instead, I will write when the spirit moves me, sometimes several times a day as time and work allow, and (not too often I hope) not at all for a day or three.

Happy New Year.
