About the Author

Gerard Cunningham is a freelance journalist living in Co Kildare. He occupies his time working as a journalist, writer, sub-editor, website designer, graphic designer, and occasional photographer.

A native of Donegal, he is best known for his coverage of the Morris tribunal between March 2003 and December 2007 for outlets as diverse as the Donegal Democrat and Highland Radio to national media including RTE and the Irish Times.

He became a familiar voice on the RTE programme Tonight With Vincent Browne, where his regular contributions keep listeners up to date with the shocking and at times surreal revelations at the inquiry into Garda corruption in Co Donegal.

Before turning freelance in 2002, Gerard worked as a journalist with the Donegal Democrat since his return to Ireland from Chicago USA in late 2000.

He has previously worked as a magazine circulation director, debt collector, fish packer, plastic bag salesman, and box hopper, among other things.
